  Abstract:  For many centuries, paper was the main material for recording cultural achievements all over the world. Historical papers constitute important objects in libraries and archives as documents, manuscripts and maps. Their damage is the result of different environmental factors, for example humidity and temperature, altering the paper composition, which is sometimes induced by added material like ink, pigments or dyes.
